First-party data from 69 shipped builds, counted August 2026
How long do meme coins last?
Everyone quotes the same recycled failure statistics. This page counts a portfolio this studio actually built, project by project, and names the survivors so you can go and check.
How long do meme coins actually last?
Most meme coins are functionally dead within weeks, and the sites that served them follow within a year or two when the domain lapses. Here is a real count: of the 69 documented meme coin builds in this studio's portfolio since 2020, 19 launched on their own confirmed domain. As of August 2026, 7 of those domains still resolve and serve the site, 10 have lapsed, and 2 were re-registered by strangers after lapsing. That is roughly one in three surviving among tokens whose founders cared enough to buy a domain, and about one in ten across all documented builds. The wider funnel is harsher still: fewer than 2% of pump.fun tokens ever graduate, and 86% of all recorded crypto token failures across the industry happened in 2025 alone.
The count
| Of the 69 documented builds | Count | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Launched on their own confirmed domain | 19 | The trackable set. A domain is the one piece of a meme coin that leaves a public paper trail when it dies. |
| Still resolving, August 2026 | 7 | The site loads and it is still the project's site. Every one is named and linked below. |
| Domain lapsed | 10 | Nobody renewed. The most common way a meme coin ends: not a rug, not a scandal, just an invoice nobody paid. |
| Lapsed and re-registered by someone else | 2 | The domain now serves something unrelated. This site does not link them. |
| No confirmed domain of their own | 50 | Delivered as files or hosted under the client's own infrastructure, plus three whose domain attribution was withdrawn on review, so their lifespan cannot be measured from here. |
Methodology: counted on 25 August 2026 from the same project records that build the portfolio. Alive means the domain resolves and serves the project's site today. Dead domains are documented with dated Wayback captures on their project pages where captures exist. No project was excluded from the count.
The seven still standing
| Project | Domain | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| Bad Cat | badcat.wtf | Character brand, Solana |
| Keyboard Cat | keyboardcat.fun | Meme-lineage brand, Solana |
| Baby Besc | babybesc.xyz | Companion token on BESC |
| Gulya on TON | gulyaonton.xyz | Character brand, TON |
| Henny | hennybesc.xyz | Character brand on BESC |
| Mia Bunny | miabunny.xyz | Character brand, Solana |
| S3XYVERSE | s3xyverse.com | NFT and token project |
The common thread is unglamorous: someone still pays the bills. A meme coin site resolving a year or two after launch means a founder is still there, renewing a domain for a project the market has mostly forgotten or never noticed. That is also why a live domain is one of the few honest signals a buyer can check in ten seconds: it cannot be faked retroactively.
What the funnel looks like end to end
Put this portfolio's numbers inside the public ones and the shape is clear. More than 50,000 tokens were being created on Solana every day at the 2025 peak. Fewer than 2% of pump.fun launches since January 2024 ever graduated (the graduation numbers in full). 86% of all recorded crypto token failures across the industry happened in 2025. And of the launches documented here that got as far as a real site on a real domain, about one in three is still online. Survival is rare at every stage, and each stage filters on the same thing: whether anyone is still running the project.
None of that is a reason not to launch. It is a reason to launch looking like the minority that lasts. What the ones that work share is documented from these same builds, and the branding that survives is the kind that exists before the deploy, not after. A site from here is $497 and live in 24 hours, and you see the design before you pay.
The industry-wide figures on this page, checked in a price survey on 17 August 2026: MotionTrade, how meme coins launch in 2026. Our own prices are on the pricing page and are fixed, not indicative.
Asked before every order
What percentage of meme coins survive?
From this portfolio's trackable set: 7 of the 19 builds that launched on their own domain still resolve as of August 2026, about one in three. Across all 69 documented builds it is roughly one in ten. Industry-wide the funnel is far harsher, since fewer than 2% of pump.fun tokens even graduate off the bonding curve.
How do most meme coins actually die?
Quietly. In this dataset the most common ending is a lapsed domain: nobody rugged, nothing dramatic happened, the founder simply stopped renewing. The token usually stops trading long before the site goes dark, so the domain lapse is the death certificate, not the death.
How can I tell if a meme coin is dead?
Check three things in order: whether the contract still has meaningful daily volume on DEX Screener, whether the official site still resolves, and whether the Telegram or X account has posted recently. Any one alone can mislead. All three silent together is the answer.
Does having a website keep a meme coin alive?
No, and this page is the proof: 12 of the 19 domain launches here are gone. What a live site does is signal that someone is still running the project, which is a necessary condition, not a sufficient one. The causation runs from the founder to the domain, not the other way.
How long should I budget to run a meme coin?
Plan the first month before worrying about the first year. The launches that lasted here had branding, a site and a first-hour plan ready before deploy, then kept posting after the launch-day spike faded. If the plan is to see how launch day goes and decide after, the data says the decision has already been made.
